Emergency preparedness is a task noble, that any person who should be responsible but, in order to make effective monitoring should not be done at random. Many people start with good intentions, but are wrong in their preparedness and food storage. They have a strong goal in mind (ie be prepared for the worst disaster or emergency occurs) but there is method to his madness. After they have accumulated at random some of the needs for any possible perceived threat, which then are not sure whether they have everything they need, and if resources are allocated properly. Of course, almost anything is better than nothing, but there must be some principle of priorities the preparation of a disaster scenario in the short term survival all the way through a "doomsday" plight. Not everything can be prepared for, because it is impossible to accurately predict the future, but it is certainly better to be prepared, that low, and the best approach is to create a base for emergency preparedness sound and add in the proper sequence.
The proposed sequence is as follows: The first thing everyone should be stored in an emergency is an emergency kit 72 hours. A 72-hour emergency kit is easy to transport and easy access package containing items such as three days of water (most important) and no food goods (mainly ready-to-eat), personal toiletries / hygiene items, first aid kit and medicines, a flashlight and batteries blankets and sleeping bag, radio, knife, etc. within 72 hours is likely to take to restore normal services to be stopped after a major disaster. You should plan on being self-sufficient for at least three days.
The next level in the pyramid is a source available three months of storage Food that include elements usually eat and can be rotated easily, eliminating any residue. These are things such as canned foods that are easily adjusted in your pantry or an additional cabinet and frozen foods (meat, canned vegetables).
food (meals ready to eat), freeze-dried MRE and dehydrated food is the next step in the prioritization. These storage elements to store food for long periods of time in a climate controlled environment, usually between 10 and 30 years.
Dry-Pack storage elements, such as wheat, rice and beans move us further provision pyramid. These items are very dense in nutrients, and take more work to prepare meals, but are extremely versatile and can be included in recipes too to count. Staples are very good for your diet. Other items in dry pack includes milk powder, egg powder and buttermilk powder, precious metals (chicken and beef), flour, pasta noodles, etc.
Having prepared the food properly, it's time to move up the pyramid of the preparation for the level containing extra clothing and footwear. Remember that you must consider the climate in which they live and change (or not) at the stations. If you live in a region that has harsh winters, be sure have enough coats, sweaters, thermal underwear, warm clothes, gloves, boots and blankets.
The next level of the pyramid of firearms and ammunition. First, they serve as tools for killing game animals for meat if it were necessary. Second, they can serve as protection in case an attack by disrupting social order (riots, looting, etc) where you may need to protect your family from harm.
Basic camping bags equipment such as tents, sleeping bags, camping stoves / Dutch ovens, fishing rod and tackle a Leatherman, matches, flashlight, and all urinals holder will make you much more confidence in their ability to survive outside if necessary to move further provision of a pyramid, and have to evacuate your home for any reason during a period of time.
A person can survive indefinitely without a shower, but not comfortably. That's why this category of personal hygiene items is closer to the top of the pyramid of preparation, but much remains a very valid and useful thereof. The specific elements should be included here are soap, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste, a razor and cream, deodorant, towels women and diapers.
Finally, once you have completed your collection of each of the previous layers and levels (and not before), the maximum available pyramid with an emergency fund. This should include as many as three to six months of living expenses, and then completed with gold and especially silver (the poor man's gold) bullion.
