Hunting knife question ?
I just made some black walnut handles for a S&W knife and hatchet combo ( just cause I felt like it ).I’ve done a lot of furniture and gun stocks but never a knife. So I’m thinking urethane may be too slick of a finish. How about linseed oil ? any ideas ?
No big deal Capt.I’m just thinking about what I have around the house
Linseed oil is alright. But you are going to have to apply it regularly.
I like urethane.s They are pretty tough. If you are worried about the slickness, one could do like a checking pattern or something similar.
Lacquer is another option. There is a brand called NITRO that was, the last I knew, the best on the market. Spar varnish is also very tough. Sikkens is a great brand.
