Taliban (meaning disciples or students) is a huge organisation in organic linkages with things like Al Qaeda, LeT (Lashkar e Tayyab) and all that. Talking bravado and flashing a knife wouldn’t work. They are sure to be defeated, if the Americans come of the delusions (particularly after 9/11). They must read a helluva lot of history & geography first. Or else you are ‘fencing’ with ghosts. The conglomerate of which Taliban is the one vested with fighting the war in Afghanistan is being directed by men who are technicaly-savvy (technology wise). they have impeccable communication networks not relying ‘at all’ on off-the-shelf (buy and fit) communication equipment. They are very good engineers (US trained them initially to drive out Russians, way back in 1989) with the latest at their call. During their stint to throw out the Russians, US has funnelled through Pakistani army a $1billion worth (rates at that time) of military equipment. Of that communication, support and such equipment are worthy of mention and of the latest vintage (then). They have been passed into all ranks of such outfits operating from Pakistan (against Afghanistan, India and possibly in Chinese Xinjiang Muslims, to a limted extent). So, these outfits have an ‘merican technological foundation.
