Is it a good idea to get TSA confiscated KNIVES off ebay?

Is that a good deal to get knives that where confiscated by TSA from airports?

I’d be cautious about that. My suspicion is that most of these supposed “TSA siezure” lots are not really from TSA at all, but are just the usual collection of cheap, badly made knock-off knives made in small factories in China and India and jumbled into mixed box lots to look like they were randomly impounded. You can buy those junk knives all day long at discount sites and flea markets. If you zoom in on that photo the logos look fuzzy and fake and there are an awful lot of the same model (the one with the corkscrew and the 3 curved dark stripes. I used to sell Buck, Gerber, Solingen and both Wenger and Victorinox Swiss Army knives, and even accounting for “wear” (if they are actually used knives) those all in that photo just don’t look right to me. I’ve seen similar “lots” like that at flea markets and it doesn’t take much inspection to see that the steel is low carbon and the blades and hafts are poorly finished, with logos on the handles printed rather than engraved or inlaid.

I say, save your money and only buy knives you can handle and inspect.
