What year was Fixed Blade KNIVES Jean stamp case with your name?
I have 3 fixed blade knives for Jean stamped on a line then below that Cutco and then under that little valley ny. I can not find anything on the Internet that helps me to date these.
Thus the beginning of Cutco and cases are difficult to locate. I worked on this before, motivated by the fact that I have several knives from the kitchen of cases that are exactly like Cutco knives I have some (a Except for the handles), including having the same patent numbers on the leaves. The case four brothers (William Russell / WR, Jean, John and Andrew) began selling their knives in the back of a truck in western New York around 1889. They had previously worked for the Cattaraugus Cutlery Company Brothers Case Cutlery Co. operates in Little Valley, NY from 1896 – 1912 (officially incorporated in 1900 and burned in February, 1912). Operations were moved to Springfield, New York March. The Case family had many participants (some of them with the same name) in the knife business, plus it had Champlins and Platts brought through marriage, which makes everything more complicated. He had also founded several companies to carry out the whole thing. Cutco was formed in 1948 but has roots going back to Olean, New York in late 1800. Some of these ancestors came from Sheffield, England – another famous knife-making in the area. The name comes from a combination Cutco the name of the cooking utensil wear property CO-Ever, a subsidiary of Alcoa Aluminum. Auks (Alcoa / case) was the name of the company formed by Case Cover Bradford, Pa., for the manufacture of Cutco knives in Olean, New York in 1949. I can not find any connection between Jean Case and Cutco. That's the best I can do for you. I do not see how Cutco (formed in 1948) could have an authentic connection with Little Valley, New York, because the ruling of the factory Bros. / barn burned in 1912. However, "Tint" Champlin turned to Little Valley and said Kinfolks (a brand of case) is permanently there. John Russell (Russ) case could be the connection since he was involved with and Kinfolks Alcas. Edit: Found it – here is C & P from the site Kinfolks (family history case of relatives of Dean. son of Jean): [Three cousins, Tint Champlin, Russ Case and Dean J, Kinfolks Inc. formed in November 1926 to help Russ and Dye cutlerys to keep up with demand for razors and knives with fixed blades. Jean was 73 years, spending time with grandchildren, working on the farm with the help of Bill Austin, his friend and hired labor, and still enjoyed going on the road. J. Dean often have lots of second or excess pattern for Jean Cutlery Company for sale Jean. Selling on the street, visiting old friends and clients were a much needed balm. ] Since Jean died in 1935, one can assume that the knives were made between 1926 and 1935 (in direct response to your question), I imagine it would be worth a reasonable amount taking into account the circumstances of manufacture / sell. . . although it still has problems with the seal Cutco – even if done as a memorial. Why not try to contact someone at Cutco? Also you can try some forums knife – I used to go to a good – will be added to the source (s) box if I can find.
